cristal, houston quinceanera photography

Last week, I drove down to the Houston Preet Pavilion to photograph a beautiful young lady’s quinceanera. It was my first time to photograph such an event which I was covering for my friend Sam of Zaza Digital and let me tell you… I had a blast. Quince’s are so big and elaborate with at least two live bands, loud music that’ll literally get you to the dance floor – yep, I’m guilty of dancing to the beat when I’m supposed to be taking pictures, and people just out there to outdress each other. But, make no mistake. All the attention was on our beautiful Cristal who was at an important phase in her young life. Symbolic gestures like the exchange of the doll for the tiara and some awesome gifts from close friends; it was a night she’ll always remember. Congrats, Cristal!

Miriam + Pedro, The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Wedding

It was the perfect early-spring day for Miriam and Pedro to tie the knot. A cool and light breeze brushed my face as I set out to meet them at The Waterway Marriott Hotel in The Woodlands. The energy and excitement was immediately felt as I walked into Miriam’s hotel suite, which was bustling with activity. The sight of the beautiful dress, the smell of fresh flowers, and the sound of pouring cocktails defined the atmosphere. Downstairs, I found a calm and relaxed Pedro, talking sports and cracking jokes with his college buds. Then over some ice-cold beer, a friendly competition ensued on how to best attach a boutonniere.

Back upstairs, the bride looks gorgeous. After some beautiful shots of the bridal party, and stunning silhouette shots of the bride, it was time. The ceremony was quite nice. All I can say is that you could just see it in their eyes as they spoke each other’s vows. And just like that, the newest couple in town was introduced to the small crowd of family and close friends.

The reception took place in one of the hotel’s many ballrooms. After the couple’s first dance, everyone walked to the photo booth. See it in action HERE. I was surprised by how much they loved it! After some delicious food, the party moved to the dance floor and people just had a blast until it was time to go. It was definitely a memorable day – and the pictures tell you that.

Mia Luna - The pictures from beginning to end are so beautiful. You have really captured beautiful smiles, colors and unforgettable memories. And including the photo booth was a really good idea, i like how the guests, bride and groom and family allowed themselves to have a more fun by just letting loose and being silly. Love these pictures Angel, I will definitely look to you to be a photographer for any events i may have in the future..

Sam - Great job capturing this beautiful wedding, Angel! Love all the details.

Fiona Lumsdaine - Beautiful pics, Angel. Gorgeous bridal party… can really see the fun… your photos make me wish I’d been there.

Avelaine Scyrup - Nice work Angel!

miriam + pedro, woodlands wedding photobooth

So, dancing at an awesome couple’s wedding reception is just half the fun. We busted out the photobooth! And for Miriam and Pedro’s guests, it was the life of the party! This ain’t your usual cramped, dark, hot photobooth from 10 years ago. It’s an open-air booth where people can walk-in, pose, step on the shutter pedal and boom, your picture is previewed in front of you on a flat screen.

At first people wondered what I was setting up, and after a few curious onlookers, a small crowd had gathered around. Then I heard the guests laughing, clapping their hands, getting everyone else to join in on the fun! The DJ actually had to call people to get on the dance floor as they were all distracted by the booth!

Epic fun indeed!

sneak peek 2 | the groom

So it seems like I’ve been quite busy as I work through this week. I am currently going over some last minute details to prep for tomorrow’s wedding in the North Houston area. But I couldn’t help but get back on the photos from the last wedding to post another picture as I am getting closer to finishing them all. This is the groom. I had finished taking getting ready shots of the bride so I sought out to get the groom and take a couple portraits. Now when I do groom shots, I always think “cologne commercial.” This shot definitely captures my vision.
